Welcome to the East Anderson Street / Cedar Lane Bridge Replacement Project

The County of Bergen will replace the East Anderson Street / Cedar Lane Bridge over the Hackensack River, with improvements to the bridge and approach intersections, to provide efficient crossing and enhance safety for all modes of transportation.

The bridge was built in 1971 and has structural and functional limitations that do not meet today’s design standards and transportation needs. As an essential connection for residents and businesses, the City of Hackensack and the Township of Teaneck passed Resolutions of Support for the bridge replacement.

Bergen County has completed the Local Concept Development (LCD) Study and the Local Preliminary Engineering (LPE) Phase of the project. As of Spring 2025, the project is in the Final Design (FD) Phase. The FD Phase is anticipated to be completed in two years, then the Construction Phase will begin. The project continues to receive Federal funding with oversight by the NJDOT and NJTPA as cooperating agencies.

Community involvement is an important part of this bridge project. Bergen County welcomes the community and general public to participate and provide input during the FD Phase. The Project Team encourages everyone to visit this website at their convenience and provide input during the Final Design Phase and the future Construction Phase.
