As of Spring 2025, the project is in the Final Design (FD) Phase. The FD Phase is anticipated to be completed in two years, then the Construction Phase will begin. The project continues to receive Federal funding with oversight by the NJDOT and NJTPA as cooperating agencies.

Temporary Lane Closure Work Completed – 5/15/23
The temporary alternating lane closures required for engineering studies are completed.
Your understanding and support during this needed effort for the bridge replacement project was appreciated.
East Anderson Street/Cedar Lane Bridge Temporary Lane Closures
Work for engineering studies will continue the week of May 15th and will require intermittent lane closures for Eastbound and Westbound East Anderson Street/Cedar Lane over the Hackensack River bridge.
Westbound lanes of the East Anderson Street/Cedar Lane Bridge were closed due to engineering studies necessary for the future replacement of the bridge, starting on Monday, May 8, 2023. The lane closures were required by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, in lieu of a lane shift, due to safety. Eastbound lanes have also required closure during this work. Local access to businesses and residences has been maintained.
The signed detour route directs motorists to use the bridge crossing at Salem St. Ext./W. Main St. (Midtown Bridge) to the south and New Bridge Road to the north.
The remaining work is anticipated to be intermittent depending on utility company availability, field conditions, and weather. Lanes are anticipated to be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and reopened to traffic at the end of each work day.
Please allow extra travel time due to lane closures and temporary detours. Thank you for your understanding and support during this needed effort for the future bridge replacement.
